CERTIFICATE III in BARBERING
Your pathway to becoming a qualified barber
Delivery Methods
The Certificate III in Barbering is the nationally recognised qualification required to work as a professional barber in Australia. It provides the technical skills, industry knowledge, and practical experience needed to build a successful career—whether you’re aiming to work in a shop, progress into leadership, or open your own business. The qualification opens doors across the industry and can be completed through two different delivery options, depending on how you choose to learn and work.

study at Barber Temple
Studying at Barber Temple is an intensive, full-time training program designed to prepare you to confidently enter the workforce in a shorter timeframe. Training is delivered in a structured learning environment at Barber Temple’s state-of-the-art facilities, led by trained professional educators who cater to different learning styles. The course places a strong focus on hands-on practical skills, technique, and professional standards.
The course can be completed in approximately 10–12 months and is a paid program with a total course fee of $12,500.

COMPLETE AN APPRENTICESHIP
Entering into an apprenticeship allows you to complete the qualification while employed as an apprentice barber. You’ll earn an income while you train, and government funding may be available to help support the cost of the course. Barber Temple trainers work closely with both you and your employer, providing workplace visits, ongoing support, and formal assessments throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship typically takes around 3 years full-time, or up to 6 years part-time, depending on your employment arrangement.
